It is a great example of teamwork with hardly any aspect going off track. Being a widely explored genre, and also one that will never get old, there's really a dearth of fresh romantic stories, but Girlfriend stands out thanks to it's layered and substantial story. It's difficult to make a relevant love story today. Both have done justice to their parts, as have the supporting actors. The audience lives Nachiket's life- his honesty, fickle-mindedness, low confidence and the courage he gathers to overcome his problems. Brilliant direction, production design and performances form the core of this Upendra Sidhaye directorial.ĭefinitions of love are different for everyone, but the feeling of falling in true love is what comes out beautifully through this film. The subject is not new, but the way Girlfriend has been written and executed, bringing out the uniqueness of love for everyone is where this film strikes gold. What happens later forms the plot of this film. The problem arises when Alisha aka Payal (Sai Tamhankar) actually comes in front of him. Nachiket (Amey Wagh), in a bid to make the world believe that he is not single, creates a fake social media profile of a girl named Alisha and announces to the worl that she is his girlfriend. The urge to declare your relationship status on social media has only added to this pressure and many a times, youngsters resort to telling lies about their relationships.

Review: The pressure of not having a girlfriend or not being ina relationship is quite a lot on today's youngsters, be it from friends, colleagues and the society or from themselves. But, does it land him in trouble or does it change his life for good?

Story: Nachiket is single and peer pressure to be in a relationship drives him to do something risky.
